The virtue of reciting Surah Al-Kahf on Friday

The virtue of reciting Surah Al-Kahf on Friday. Surah Al-Kahf is the 16th Surah of the Holy Quran. Kahaf means cave. The number of verses in this surah is 110. He was asked to recite Surah Al-Kahf on Friday. Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (RA) narrated on behalf of the Prophet (SAW), "Whoever recites Surah Al-Kahf on Friday, light will fall on him from one Friday to the next." And there is advice.

Verses 1 to 6 of the surah contain statements. Verses 9 to 26 contain the story of the Companions of the Cave. Verses 26 to 31 are repeated. Verses 32 to 44 contain the story of the owner of two gardens. Then again the long speech and advice came in verses 45 to 59.

There are two stories in this Surah in verses 80 to 101. The two are the events of Musa (AS) and Khizr (AS) the wise and the events related to Zulkarnain. Again the surah ends with speech and advice.

Incidents of caveman faith

We have all heard more or less the story of the Companions of Kahaf. After some young men had full faith in Allah, they reached a cave. God put them all to sleep for a long time. When one of them was sent to town to buy food after waking up, he thought people might recognize him and hurt him. But no one knew him. The people of the town were amazed at him and the old coins he had used.

Basically, this incident shows how Allah protects the servants who rely on Him from extreme adversity.

Incidents of garden owner property

One person had a beautiful garden. He was arrogant, telling his friend, ‘I’m better than you. Because, I have more wealth, employees and children than you. '(Verse 34).

Being arrogant and forgetting the blessings of Allah, Allah destroyed his gardens. The event is for those who forget the blessings of Allah in the lure of the world. They forget that God can take everything away from them if He wills.

The events of Hazrat Musa (AS) and Khizr (AS)

Three incidents took place while Hazrat Musa (AS) was traveling with Khizr (AS). In the first incident, Khizir (AS) made a hole in a boat but the owner of the boat picked him up in the boat without any rent. In the second case, he killed an innocent child. In the third incident he lifted a wall. Hazrat Musa (AS) could not remain silent in three cases. Khizr (AS) explained three incidents.

Hazrat Musa (AS) realized that Allah gives knowledge to whomever He wills. Since God alone is the possessor of all knowledge, no one should be arrogant about knowledge. Khizr (AS) himself said, I did nothing of my own accord. (Verse 72)

The case of Zulkarnain

Zulkarnain was a just and honest king, he traveled from west to east. He found a people between two mountains. They begged him to build a wall to protect them from Gog and Magog. Zulkarnain agreed to do the job. He was not proud of his work. His speech after the construction of the walls came in the Qur'an. ‘He (Zulkarnain) said,‘ These are the favors of my master, but when the appointed time of my master comes, He will crush them into dust, and the promise of my Lord is the ultimate truth. ’(Verse 96)

Four types of tests are known from four cases. From the incident of the Companions to the test of faith, from the incident of the owner of the two gardens to the test of wealth, from the incident of Hazrat Musa (AS) and Khizr (AS) to the test of knowledge, from the incident of knowledge and from the incident of Zulkarnain.

Invitation: There are four incidents of invitation. And Allah is always inviting us. In verse 14, the young men invited the king (the incident of the Companions of the Cave). In verse 36, a companion invites another companion (the case of the owner of two gardens). In verse 60, a teacher invites his student (Hazrat Musa (AS) and the incident of the wise man). In verses 7-8 a ruler invites his subjects (the case of Zulkarnain).

May Allah bless us to read and understand this wonderful Surah every Friday
