Here are ten important issues related to istighfar: Biyanillah

First of all, Istigfar is to ask Allah for forgiveness of sins.

How to apologize?

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) taught us many supplications for istighfr. In addition, many supplications for forgiveness have been narrated in the Qur'an. Some of them are prophets, some are good servants. With those words one has to ask Allah for forgiveness. For example, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) apologized in this way:

 لَللّٰهُمَّ اغْفِرْلِيْ

 [Pronunciation: Allahummagfirli]
 Meaning: O God forgive me
 [Sahih Muslim: 2696]

Here are ten important things to know about apology:

[1] Istigfারr can be done by raising one's hand in du'aa 'or by reciting the sentences of istigf নাr without raising one's hand. The important thing here is heartfelt remorse and remorse.

[2] Azur is not required for apology. However, if you ask for forgiveness through du'aa ', you can get attention, concentration and khushu-khuzu.

[3] Istiqf যায়r can be made in any case by walking, standing, sitting, lying down, silently or loudly (without crossing the line too loudly). No limit has been set in the case of apology.

[4] Apologies can be made at any time. (But there are some great times and moments for forgiveness. We will discuss them in another post — InshaAllah)

[5] Istighfar can be done not only for oneself, but also for any living or dead Muslim, including parents and relatives. [Surah Ibrahim, verse 41]

[6] It is haraam for an infidel to ask for forgiveness. The Prophet's uncle Abu Talib risked his life for the Prophet all his life, but did not have the good fortune to believe. At the time of his death, the Prophet was praying to Allah for forgiveness. Then the verse was revealed: "The Prophet and the believers should not ask forgiveness for the polytheists, even though they are close relatives, when it has become clear to them that they are the dwellers of Hell." [Surah Tawbah, verse: 113]

[6] Istighfar can be done with any other suitable word or sentence other than the words for Istighfar in the Qur'an-Hadith. You can even apologize in any language. However, the dignity and virtue of the words of istighfar mentioned in the Qur'an-Sunnah are much higher. These are also more likely to be accepted. [For details see: Rahe Belayat, Dr. Abdullah Jahangir; Pp. 98-104]

[6] Istigfar can be done as many times as desired. A certain number of readings is not mandatory. However, the hadiths which clearly mention a certain number of verses should be read that way. For example: reciting istigfar three times at the end of each obligatory prayer. [Sahih Muslim: 591]

[9] Although it is forbidden to recite the Qur'an during the period, there is no prohibition to recite Istighfar, Darud, Zikr, Dua, etc. The scholars agree on this point.

[10] Istigfar can be recited in prostration. Because istigfar is a kind of dua. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) also recited Istighfar while prostrating. [Sahih Bukhari: 694]

[We will post a few more posts on Istighfar in a row InshaAllah. Among them will be the importance and dignity of Istighfar, its appropriate time and moment, the masnun (hadith-like) sentences of Istighfar, various statements of the Salaf about Istighfar, etc. May be 5/6 episodes in total]

The door to endless possibilities of apology (Episode: 1)

The Unlimited Dignity and Benefits of Istighfar [In the Light of Quran-Sunnah Documents]

(1) Protection from punishment and wrath:

Allaah says in the Qur'aan al-Kareem, “Allaah will never punish them until you (the Prophet) are among them and do not send down punishment on them even if they ask forgiveness.” [Surah Anfal, verse: 33]

The Prophet was an obstacle to the coming of the torment. He is gone. Now there is forgiveness left. So it goes without saying how important it is.

(2) Assurance of enjoyable life in this world and in the Hereafter:

God says, "And ask forgiveness of your Lord, and return to Him." Then He will give you enjoyment of a good life till the appointed time, and will give you more (in the Hereafter). And if you turn away, I fear for you the punishment of a great day. "[Surah Hud, verse: 03] [Tafsir Ibn Kathir: 2/437]

(3) By asking for forgiveness, sins are forgiven and Allah has mercy:

In the hadith Qudsi, Allah says, “O My servants! You sin day and night; I will forgive all your sins; Therefore, ask forgiveness of Me. ”[Sahih Muslim]

"Whoever commits a sin or wrongs himself and then seeks forgiveness from Allah, he will find Allah Forgiving, Merciful." [Surah An-Nisa ', verse 110]

(4) Growing wealth and children and gaining the blessings of a good life:

(Noah said) Then I said: Ask forgiveness of your Lord. He is very forgiving. He will send down water on you in torrents, increase your wealth and your children, establish gardens for you, and cause rivers to gush forth for you. ”[Surah Nooh, verses 10-12]

(5) Istigfar is a powerful tool to defeat Satan:

The hadith states in Qudsi, “Iblis said to his Rabb: I swear by your honor and greatness! I will continue to lead the children of Adam astray as long as there is a spirit in them. Allah says: I swear by my honor and greatness! I will continue to forgive them until they apologize to me. ” [Musnad Ahmad, Hasan the hadith]

(6) Istighfar removes the narrowness of the heart and increases strength:

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, “My heart is hindered (from the remembrance of Allaah), (so) I seek forgiveness a hundred times a day.” [Saheeh Muslim: 2602]

[See also: Surah Hud, verse: 52]

(7) Assurance of Paradise: Sayyidul Istigfar (the best dua of Istigfar) should be memorized.

The hadith says, "Whoever recites these two verses during the day with firm belief, and then dies before evening, will be among the people of Paradise." And whoever reads it in the evening with conviction and then dies before dawn, he will be among the people of Paradise. ”[Sahih Bukhari: 6306]

(6) God praises those who repent last night:

Allaah says in the Qur'aan, “And Allaah watches over His slaves who say,‘ O our Lord! We believe, so forgive us and save us from the torment of Hell. ”[Surah Al-Imran, verses: 15-16]

 Praising them, Allah says, "They are patient, truthful, loyal, spend (in the right way) and seek forgiveness in the last night." [Surah Al 'Imran, verse: 18]

(9) Istigfar is the way to get rid of the narrowness, suffering and anxiety of the world:

The hadith says, "Whoever seeks forgiveness more and more, Allah will find a way out of all his troubles, will remove all his worries and will provide for him from unimaginable sources." [Bayhaqi: 638, Mustadrak Hakim: 6; Signature]

(10) One of the two ways to save women from hell is: Sadaqah and Istighfar:

One day the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said (addressing the women), “O women! Keep on giving alms and ask forgiveness in abundance. Because I saw you as most of the inhabitants of Hell .... (Hadith is long) '' [Sahih Muslim: 69, 70]

 Also apologize:

 Sunnatul Ambiya (Sunnah of the Prophet);
 Sifat (quality) of the pious;
 removes the filth of sin;
 Brings peace to the heart;
 Increases relationship with God;
 Brings the sweetness of faith;
 Eliminates any danger;
 Protects against depression;
 √ Makes God dear.

Grant us the tawfiq of sticking to the istigfar of the great Rabb. Amen.
